System Administrator Information
System Administrators have the primary responsibility to "repair" a computer system that has been compromised.
SAs have the responsibility to install the operating system (OS) and apply all appropriate security patches on those systmes for which they are responsible.
SAs should check with either the ISD CSO,
Art Hughes
or the alternate CSO,
Steve Naus
, to determine if there are patch CDs or hardening program CDs available for the target OS.
Before any system is connnected to the GSFC CNE domain, the vulnerability scanning software must be run on the system (Contact the ISD CSO or Alternate CSO, to get this step performed). All high and medium vulnerabilities must be resolved before physical connection to the network.
